📦 Maryland Ranks 24th for Missing Packages, Study Finds

If you’ve ever had a package disappear from your doorstep, you’re not alone.

A new study ranked Maryland as the 24th-worst state in the country for missing or stolen packages, based on online searches related to lost deliveries. The report found Maryland averages nearly 58 searches per 100,000 residents each month for terms like “USPS lost mail,” “Amazon package stolen,” and “missing package.”

The study also noted that USPS-related searches were by far the most common, followed by Amazon and UPS.

Package theft has been an ongoing issue in Baltimore. Last year, police investigated multiple porch piracy cases, including one involving Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley. During the 2025 holiday season, the Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office even deployed GPS-equipped decoy packages, leading to several arrests.
