The Baltimore Jewish Council shared a recap of a busy and productive three weeks in Annapolis, highlighting key legislative progress and community engagement.

Several priority bills have advanced, including SB177, which addresses obstruction or interference with the exercise of religious beliefs, and SB140, focused on criminal law related to benefits exploitation. The organization also testified on multiple issues impacting older adults, Jewish safety, and broader community concerns.

In addition, the Council worked closely with state agencies and bill sponsors to help shape amendments to legislation affecting local JCCs and childcare centers.

Beyond legislative efforts, the past few weeks included meaningful community events, such as Jewish Student Shadow Day and the bicentennial anniversary of the Jew Bill signing, both hosted by the Maryland Jewish Caucus.

Baltimore Jewish Council says it will continue advocating on behalf of the community as the legislative session moves forward.
