A unique and meaningful opportunity is at risk of being canceled unless more participants step forward.

Organizers of the upcoming Singles Shabbaton for Orthodox adults with physical and/or medical disabilities and hearing impairments are urgently seeking at least 8 more female participants to sign up by May 1, 2026.

The free, fully catered Shabbaton will take place June 12–14 at Camp Nageela in the Catskills and is designed to provide a warm, inclusive environment where singles can connect in a comfortable and supportive setting.

Organizers emphasize that accommodations are available for all participants, including wheelchair accessibility, volunteer aides if needed, an on-site nurse, and experienced shadchanim to help facilitate connections.

Despite the current imbalance in signups, there is strong interest from eligible men already registered. Without additional women joining, the event may unfortunately be forced to cancel.

Past Shabbatons have already led to multiple engagements and several ongoing relationships, highlighting the impact and importance of this initiative.

Activities will include Shabbos meals, interactive games, speed dating, a Melava Malka, and Sunday breakfast.

Those who may be unsure due to scheduling concerns are encouraged to sign up regardless, as last-minute cancellations are understood.

Organizers Wayne and Denise Chesner, along with the Nageela team, say they remain hopeful the community will step up to ensure the event can go on as planned.
