Delegate Malcolm Ruff and his supporters have criticized the Vaad HaRabbanim for encouraging voters to change their party registration in order to participate in Maryland’s closed primary elections.

Now, FOX45 is reporting that a Maryland teachers’ union is publicly encouraging members to switch political parties to influence Republican primary election results. The report also cites a former county executive who says a similar strategy was used against her in 2024 and that “the tactic worked.”

The obvious question is whether Ruff will apply the same standard here.

If encouraging voters to switch party registration is wrong, is it also wrong when a teachers’ union does it?

Or is the criticism only directed at Jewish organizations while labor unions get a pass?

Baltimore Scoop will be watching to see whether Delegate Ruff publicly condemns this tactic across the board, or only when it comes from our community.
