Baltimore community leader Yisrael Motzen released a public letter urging the Orthodox Jewish community to register and vote in the upcoming elections, warning that low voter turnout weakens the community’s voice and representation.

In the letter, Motzen referenced a 1984 letter from Rav Moshe Feinstein zt”l encouraging civic participation as an expression of hakaras hatov to America as a “country of kindness.”

He also expressed growing concern over rising antisemitism and political trends impacting Jewish communities across the United States and Canada.

“Votes = representation. Not voting = you don’t matter,” Motzen wrote, noting that Orthodox voter turnout in Baltimore has historically remained under 30%.
