Jonathan Daniels, the Executive Director of the Maryland Port Administration, will step down in mid-August after just over two years on the job.
Daniels took over in early 2024 — just one month before the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse shut down the port for nearly two months. Under his leadership, the Port of Baltimore rebounded strongly, handling nearly $66 billion in cargo in 2025, one of its strongest years on record.
He is leaving Maryland to become the new Port Director and CEO of PortMiami.
Deputy Secretary Samantha Biddle will serve as interim director while the state begins a national search for his replacement.
