Reuven Amos is running for House of Delegates in Maryland’s 41st District with a focused goal: fighting for free private education programs similar to what exists in communities like Cleveland and Cincinnati. He says he is currently the only Frum Yid on the ballot.

Reuven has lived in Baltimore for the past four years. Before that, he lived in Eretz Yisrael and the Silver Spring area.

His background in public service runs deep. He has worked for Congress, the legislature, and in multiple positions within the executive branch of government.

But there’s another part of his story many people may not know.

In 2015, after seeing the atrocities ISIS was committing against religious minorities, Reuven volunteered with a Kurdish militia in Syrian Kurdistan to fight ISIS. He also learned to speak Kurdish and was featured in The Jerusalem Post during his time on the front lines. He says the experience shaped his understanding of responsibility, courage, and standing up for people under attack.

He also spent two years learning at Ohr Sameach.

What does he enjoy most about what he does?

“Helping my community.”

Reuven says one of his biggest priorities is helping families struggling with the rising cost of tuition and exploring ways Maryland can better support private and religious school education.
