A new report from the Baltimore City Office of the Inspector General claims several City employees, including individuals connected to the Mayor’s Office, remained on payroll for extended periods after leaving their positions while collecting “permission leave” pay.

According to the report, five employees tied to Mayoral Offices were collectively paid over $147,000 for 276 workdays after their departures were announced. One employee reportedly stayed on payroll for roughly four months despite only working for the City for six months.

The investigation also found agency directors and employees from multiple departments received similar arrangements totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional payroll costs.
