With more than 1.4 million Instagram followers, Miriam Ezagui recently questioned why Baltimore’s Kosher restaurant scene is so limited.

We see things a bit differently.

First, operating a restaurant is one of the toughest businesses out there. Most restaurant only hear from customers when something goes wrong. Just recently, we watched a table become upset over a delay in their food and treat the waitress terribly. It was really uncomfortable to watch.

Second, the cost of running a restaurant is exorbitant!  Rising food costs, labor, insurance, rent, regulations, and tons of other costs, it’s a challenge for restaurants just to stay afloat!

Finally, we don’t think Baltimore’s restaurant scene is nearly as bad as it’s being made out to be. Over the past few years, we’ve seen a number of new restaurants open. Is there room for growth? Absolutely. We’d all love to see even more options but its not as bleak as she portrays.
