As a member of the Orthodox Jewish community, I am deeply disheartened to see the attacks on County Councilman Julian Jones, portraying him as anti-Semitic or as someone who supports anti-Semitic individuals, especially now as he is running for County Executive and is a very serious contender with a very high chance of winning and becoming the next County Executive.

This narrative is simply not consistent with reality. For many years, Councilman Jones has shown meaningful and consistent support for the Jewish community. His efforts have included assisting organizations such as the Aguda with Boost funding, which was at risk of significant cuts and being phased out. He played a key role in fighting to preserve this funding, which benefits the entire community, including by working directly with the governor. He has also helped other Jewish organizations like Hatzalah, Shomrim, and many others.

In these cases, he was reached out to by these organizations for assistance, and he stepped up to help. He does this while he is not the councilman currently representing the Jewish community, yet he has been someone people turn to because of his willingness and ability to help when others were not.

It is disappointing to see his record mischaracterized, especially when so many in the community can personally attest to his longstanding support and partnership.
