Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott is pushing back against what he says was a major media mistake following the arrest of a Safe Streets worker named Antoine Burton in connection with a Park Heights shooting.

According to Scott, several news outlets (not Baltimore Scoop😎) confused the man who was arrested with Pastor Antoine Burton, president of We Our Us, a well-known anti-violence leader in Baltimore. Scott says the two men are not the same person.

The mayor stated that the individual arrested worked for the Safe Streets Belvedere site through LifeBridge Health’s Center for Hope while Pastor Burton has spent years leading violence prevention efforts in the city.

Scott criticized media outlets for allegedly using photos of the pastor in coverage of the arrest and said the mistake spread misinformation and damaged the reputation of an innocent community leader.
