Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown has joined a lawsuit against the Trump administration, accusing the federal government of unlawfully demanding personal information belonging to commercial driver’s license holders.

Brown said the administration is attempting to obtain Marylanders’ personal data without a legitimate purpose or adequate safeguards.

“We are joining this lawsuit because this data belongs to the states, and the federal government cannot force another party to hand it over without lawful justification,” Brown said.
