Maryland is purchasing a new voting system from Election Systems & Software (ES&S), for up to $109 million.  The new system is intended to be ready in time for the 2028 Presidential election.

Maryland’s current voting equipment is aging, and replacement machines will no longer be available for purchase.  The new voting machines will look almost identical to the current machines, and the voting process shouldn’t change with the new system.
