A major disturbance broke out Saturday night at Baltimore’s AFRAM Festival in Druid Hill Park after a large group of teens reportedly began fighting and assaulting police officers.

According to reports, officers were pelted with bottles and other objects as police worked to break up the chaos. Multiple officers were reportedly assaulted during the incident.

The situation escalated to the point that authorities declared part of the park a civil unrest zone and deployed a police helicopter to assist with crowd dispersal.

Earlier in the day, police also arrested a 17-year-old at the festival after reportedly recovering a firearm.

AFRAM, one of the largest African American festivals on the East Coast, was celebrating its 50th anniversary over Juneteenth weekend.
