Baltimore County Councilman Nino Mangione (R-District 3) is looking to finalize County approval for the redevelopment project at the Lutherville Light Rail Station, a plan that has been stalled for years.

The project, lead by developer Mark Renbaum of MLR Partners, would see the building of 325 apartments, as well as restaurants and shops, in what is now mostly empty parking lots.

Republican proponents of the project emphasize the need to get the project moving while still under County control, fearing a 2027 Democratically-controlled General Assembly could give the state more control over transit oriented development.   Meanwhile Democrat Shawn McIntosh, running against Councilman Mangione in the fall, is in favor of development at the site, but expressed willingness to change what type of housing would be allowed in the project.
