Legionella bacteria, which can cause Legionnaires’ disease, has been detected in the water system at the George H. Fallon Federal Building in downtown Baltimore. The building houses multiple federal agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) offices where migrants are temporarily held. According to reports, the bacteria was first detected in November 2025 and has remained present even after cleaning efforts. Members of Maryland’s congressional delegation are now demanding answers from federal officials, raising concerns about the health risks for detainees, employees, and others working in the building.
