If you know Baltimore Scoop, you know we’re often heavily tilted to the right on many issues.

That’s why this may come as a surprise:

If you’re a registered Republican in Baltimore City or Baltimore County, you need to switch  your registration to Democrat.

In many local races around here, the Democratic primary is effectively the real election. By the time the general election comes around, the outcome is often already decided.

That means many voters in our community are sitting out the only election where their vote could realistically influence who represents us.

If you want your vote to actually count in the races that impact our daily lives, you need to be able to participate in the primary process.

You can still hold conservative values. You can still support Republican candidates nationally.

But locally, registration strategy matters.

So yes… this may be the most unexpected thing Baltimore Scoop has ever said:

Stop being a Republican!
