Dramatic video posted by the Baltimore Firefighters’ union, IAFF Local 734, shows firefighters rescuing a person from a burning home in East Baltimore yesterday.

The fire occurred in the 2000 block of Boone Street. According to the union, members of Truck 5 were able to position the proper ladders and remove the person from the burning dwelling.

The union shared the footage while renewing its concerns over fire apparatus being placed out of service because of broken equipment, stressing how critical proper staffing and functioning equipment can be during an emergency.

“Seconds count. Readiness matters. Lives depend on it,” the union wrote.

The video offers a dramatic look at just how quickly Baltimore firefighters must act when a life is on the line.
