We’ve spent weeks explaining why this election matters. Now comes the important question: can you actually vote?

If you, your children, or anyone in your household will be away during early voting (June 11-18) or on Election Day (June 23), you should apply for a mail-in ballot immediately.

But before doing anything else, make sure you’re registered.

The deadline to register or change your party affiliation is tomorrow, June 2 at 5:00 PM.

Maryland has a closed primary. If you are registered as a Republican, Independent, or Unaffiliated, you will not be able to vote in the Democratic primary. If you want your voice heard in this election, your registration must be updated before the deadline.

This is especially important for anyone leaving for summer vacation, spending the summer out of town, or studying in yeshiva or seminary away from home.

Don’t assume you’re registered correctly. Don’t assume your party affiliation is up to date. Take three minutes and verify it now.

Every vote matters. Every registration matters. Missing this deadline means giving up your opportunity to participate in an election that will help determine who represents our community.
