Baltimore Gas and Electric is seeking approval for another rate increase that would add to the average residential electric bill.

The request comes as many Maryland families are already dealing with higher utility costs, including previous increases tied to distribution rates, energy programs and regional power costs.

The proposal still needs approval from the Maryland Public Service Commission before taking effect.
