Baltimore Sun owner David D. Smith filed a defamation lawsuit against Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, alleging the governor falsely claimed Smith purchased The Baltimore Sun “to do Donald Trump’s work” and suggested he was associated with Jeffrey Epstein.

The lawsuit says the statements were false and defamatory, and seeks damages along with a public retraction. Gov. Moore’s office has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.  Gov. Moore is being sued in an individual capacity, not in his governmental capacity.
