We’ve been receiving many questions about progress on the deer initiative, so here is our update:
The Baltimore Scoop recently held a productive meeting with city officials on the issue, and we thank Councilman Yitzy Schleifer for coordinating it. Officials shared that this year is already contracted, but encouraged us to begin preparing for next year.
We also spoke with Star-K, who expressed interest in exploring how this could be handled.
Councilman Schleifer noted mixed reactions from constituents regarding the original plan of shooting the deer, and suggested that a kosher, painless process could be a more acceptable alternative and that this idea may have real validity.
Why is the Baltimore Scoop interested in this?
We see this as an opportunity to potentially provide food for those in need in our community, with organizations like Ahavas Yisrael helping identify recipients.
It’s still early, but we’ll keep you updated as always.
