Baltimore was ranked the second most stressed city in the United States, according to WalletHub’s 2026 report on the Most and Least Stressed Cities in America.
Only Detroit ranked higher.
The report looked at more than 180 cities and measured 39 different stress factors, including unemployment, traffic, poverty, work hours, financial stress, sleep, and family-related stress.
Baltimore ranked:
• #1 in the country for traffic congestion
• #13 for unemployment rate
• #15 for divorce rate
• #27 for job security
• #32 for adults getting inadequate sleep
• #37 for poverty rate
WalletHub says financial pressure, rising costs, debt, job concerns, and everyday quality-of-life issues are continuing to weigh heavily on many Americans.
