Baltimore City is set to pay $400,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by Devonte Jett, who was struck by a Baltimore Police patrol vehicle during a chase in 2021.
According to police, Jett fled after allegedly carjacking a vehicle and abandoning it. During the pursuit, he was struck by a patrol vehicle and later arrested.
Jett later sued the city, claiming his civil rights were violated by the officer’s use of the vehicle during the incident.
As part of the settlement, Jett has agreed to drop the lawsuit against the city.
