Over the past few months, whenever The Scoop has posted about random local restaurants, we’ve received messages from followers complaining about different establishments, the service, an order that went wrong, a bad experience, or something else they were unhappy about.
And frankly, we’ve sometimes been disturbed by just how much negativity gets thrown at our local restaurants.
A kosher restaurant is a risky business. It is a capital-intensive venture with enormous costs & long hours. Nobody is getting rich simply because they started serving food.
Does that mean restaurants shouldn’t provide good food and good service? Of course not. But things go wrong. You may even had a genuinely bad experience.
But not every bad experience needs to make the owner, manager, or person behind the counter feel horrible over it.
When restaurant owners constantly hear negativity, eventually some of them are going to decide that the headache isn’t worth it.
Maybe there’s something we can take from today’s news: let’s try to be a little more understanding.
Because if we want kosher restaurants in our community, we have to create a community where people actually want to open them.
